Report by Dr. Ravenport on tha
death of a passenger alleged to have beun
kicked to death on board the 5.8. *Fatshuan".
I horoby certify that I have this day examined the
body of a Chinaman who is enid to have died on the voyage
last night from Hongkong te fanton on the 3.5. *Falshan”.
I could find no evidence of any broken bone or any
sign of any external injury to head trunk or limbs, and
there were no physical signs of offusion of blood or
fluid into any cavity as would probably occur if any in-
ternal organ much as the liver or spleen were severely
damaged.
As on percussion the spleen was found to be somewhat
onlarged and particularly from the appearance of lips,
tongue and mouth I have no hesitation in stating that I
firmly believe that the deceased had been suffering from
fever for several days previously and that when he came
